Who can set this up
Only the account owner can connect or change the Google Tag Manager integration.
How to connect Google Tag Manager
Step 1. Go to Settings and open the Integrations tab.
Step 2. Find the Google Tag Manager section and click Connect.
Step 3. Paste your GTM Container ID into the field. It looks like this: GTM-XXXXXXX
Step 4. Click Save.
Your widget will start loading GTM on its next page load. That is it. From here, you configure all of your tags and triggers inside your GTM dashboard as you normally would.
Your tracking only fires on the public booking widget. It never runs on the Hotelia staff dashboard, so your team's activity stays out of your analytics data.
Where to find your GTM Container ID
Your Container ID is shown in the top right corner of your Google Tag Manager account, just after you select a container. It always starts with GTM- followed by letters and numbers.
Making changes later
You can return to Settings > Integrations > Google Tag Manager at any time to edit your Container ID or disconnect the integration entirely.
Frequently asked questions
Will this slow down my booking widget?
Google Tag Manager loads asynchronously, which means it does not block the widget from loading. Your guests should not notice any difference.
Can I use this with multiple ad platforms at once?
Yes. You manage all of your tags inside GTM, so you can send data to as many platforms as you want from a single container.
What if I enter the wrong Container ID?
The field only accepts correctly formatted GTM Container IDs. If your entry does not match the expected format, you will see an error and the ID will not be saved.
